Victor Green played in the NFL for ten seasons, from 1993 to 2003. Victor was picked up as a free agent in 1993 by the New York Jets, where he played for eight out of his ten NFL seasons. Within one year of entering the League, Victor was the starting safety for the Jets defense. Throughout his career in New York, Victor posted 128 consecutive starts, 998 tackles and 24 interceptions. In 2002, Victor played for the New England Patriots for one year before joining the New Orleans Saints for the 2003 season. Victor’s Jets teammates included quarterback Vinny Testaverde, Aaron Glenn and Mo Lewis. With the Patriots, Victor shared the field with quarterback Tom Brady and standout Richard Seymour. After his stint in New Orleans, Victor returned to the Jets to retire on the team with which he began his career. Upon retirement, Victor was honored with a placement on the New York Jets All-Time Four Decade Team.
Before going pro, Victor played football for the University of Akron. Today, Victor has a passion for giving back to his hometown community, a goal that he has pursued through various outlets. Victor has worked with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Lifetime TV Breast Cancer talk and cell phone drive. He also founded the Victor Green Foundation which, in 1995, partnered with the Professional Partners for Youth Development to design a non-profit organization determined to be a bright spot in the community. The organization offers school tutoring, mentoring, college prep work and scholarships as rewards for outstanding academic improvement and Saturday Fun Days. The Foundation is located in Victor’s hometown of Americus, Georgia. Victor was awarded the “Key to the City of Americus” because of his exceptional work in his home town community. Victor also owns gosafeguard.com, a printing, graphic design house and a business solutions center. He has a passion for real estate as well and owns the Victor Green Real Estate Corp.
