Pete Rose is a former professional baseball player who played for the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, and Montreal Expos. Throughout his twenty-three-season career, he has earned lots of recognition for his exceptional talent. Pete is a 3x World Series champion, 17x All-Star selection, and 2x Gold Glove Award recipient. In addition, Pete won NL Rookie of the Year in 1963, World Series MVP in 1975, as well as many other awards. Pete is a very deserving member of the Major League Baseball All-Century Team.
In high school, Pete was a baseball standout at Western Hills High School. After playing four years for his school, Pete joined the Dayton Amateur League for one year before signing a professional contract.
In Pete's first season with the Cincinnati Reds, he was named the National League Rookie of the Year, collecting 17 out of 20 votes. After his impressive rookie season, Pete joined the US Army Reserves for some time before returning his primary focus to baseball. During his years with the Cincinnati Reds, Pete was a member of the "Big Red Machine" team, a team that is remembered in baseball history as one of the best teams ever. After winning two World Series with the Reds, Pete continued him success when he joined the Philadelphia Phillies in 1979 and gained another World Series ring the following season. During his time with the Phillies, Pete also tied Willie Keeler's single-season National League hitting streak at 44 games. He later joined the Montreal Expos in 1984 where he only played one year for the franchise. However, during that season, Pete had his 4,000th career hit and became the second member of the 4,000 hit club. Pete returned to the Reds in 1984 and retired with them 1986.
After retirement, Pete stayed close the Cincinnati Reds, and became manager of the team between 1984-1989. He continues to be remembered as a standout baseball player and currently appears on the TLC show Pete Rose: Hits & Mrs..
