Leslie Osborne is a professional soccer player who currently plays for the Chicago Red Stars of the WPSL. Prior to joining the team in 2013, Leslie played for the Boston Breakers as a defensive midfielder. She has consistently been a standout player at all levels of the game, having a stellar career in both high school and college before debuting on the US senior national team in 2003. Leslie began playing professionally with the Chicago Cobras in 2001 and played for the California Storm and FC Gold Pride before officially joining the Boston Breakers in 2010. Originally from Milwaukee, Leslie played for FC Milwaukee for almost ten years, winning state titles every year. A two-time high school state champion for the Catholic Memorial Crusaders, Leslie was named the Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year and Wisconsin Player of the Year in both 2000 and 2001, earned Parade and NSCAA All-American honors in 2001 and was inducted into her high school hall of fame in 2012. Heavily recruited by Santa Clara University, Leslie played both forward and center mid for the Broncos. She received the NCAA’s Honda Award as the nation’s top female soccer player in 2004, finishing her collegiate career with 44 goals and 34 assists. Named the WCC Player and Defender of the Year three times, All-WWC First-team four times and NSCAA First-Team All-American three times, Leslie won the national championship as a freshman with the Broncos in 2001.
Leslie made her national team debut as a fourteen year old, playing with the U.S. U-16, U-18, U-19 and U-21 and senior national teams. She won the FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championships in 2002 and finished her U-19 career with 21 caps and four goals. Leslie earned her first nine caps for the USA in 2004 and in 2007 played in five matches at the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup earning a bronze medal. A dominant player as well as team leader, Leslie served as captain for FC Gold Pride before becoming captain of the Boston Breakers for three years running. Off the field, Leslie hosts her own youth soccer academy clinics throughout the year, volunteers for the Boys & Girls Club and supports Grassroot Soccer. She has also coached at Santa Clara University and for the Chicago Eclipse.
