Duane Starks was drafted 10th overall in the 1998 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. The cornerback played in the NFL from 1998 to 2007, playing for the Ravens, Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders. Duane made an impact almost immediately for the Ravens as a rookie defenseman. After four years in Baltimore, Duane had recorded 20 interceptions, the most memorable of which came in Super Bowl XXXV when he scored off the pick to secure the Raven’s defeat of the New York Giants. Duane went on to play two seasons with the Cardinals, one with the Patriots and two with the Raiders before retiring from football in 2008. During his career, Duane played with teammates such as Warren Sapp and Randy Moss.
Before going pro, Duane played football for two years at the University of Miami. Starting for two years at cornerback for the Hurricanes, Duane’s time in Miami prepared him for his ten-year career. After his retirement in 2008, Duane established his own charitable organization called the Starks Foundation. The foundation was established to “ignite hope and opportunity to economically challenged youth and families”. Duane received the JB Award for his leadership, dedication and commitment to his team and community.
